原Based on what you all had said, my theory is that this name could have several meanings depending on the language.
If you spell it Giadira it could look like the Italian name "Giada", which means "jade". Not related with the Arabic word for jade which is "yashm".
For a Hebrew it could sound like the name Jedidah which means "beloved, friend".
But my heart goes with the possibility that it could come from the Urdu word Jadir which means "new" or the Arabic name "Jadir" that means "sprout, spring blossom".
I haven't been able yet to find the reason why the name became popular not only in Mexico during the 1940's and later but also in my country, Panama, and other latino countries. Perhaps it became popular because of rumbera actress Yadira Jimenez who was born in Colombia in 1928 and raised to fame in Mexican movies during 1940's.
