原There is a town very near here called Delmar. It is located partly in Delaware and partly in Maryland, that's how it got the name. There's also another town located in the two states called Mardella.
原This was my dad's name, although his birth certificate said Delmer. I guess it sounds old-fashioned and maybe has the same connotations as Elmer. But of course I think of a guy like my dad -- smart, sociable, with a certain sadness about him that he tried to hide.
