原Yes, it is pronounced as "jew" but please understand that Chinese names are usually not one word names. There are millions of possibilities for combinations, and behindthename has merely placed in its archive some of the more popular single word names.
原I think the first poster was trying to say that it would be bad to use this name in an English speaking country because someone might take offense when your calling your child. I doubt that first poster was making fun of Jewish people.

原"Jew"? And live in an English-speaking country? No. Try June, or Julie, or Juniper, or Judy, or just about anything else that starts with "Ju" BUT NOT Ju all by itself!
