原This is my name. I like it and think it's neat having a name not everyone has, but it is annoying when people call you "Brook" or "Brooke". It is a really good name though, and I recommend it.
原It sounds a bit nickname-y, but I kind of like it. It's not the world's most serious name, and it doesn't sound very mature, but it sounds like the name of a fun guy who also happens to be wise and friendly. Yes, I know that sounds contradictory, but the name sounds boyish and fun as well as the name of some guy who has life experience and good words of advice to his friends. Don't ask me why. It's a bit of an old-fashioned name, but not in a geeky or pretentious way.
原I think this makes a good first name, the only trouble is that it's easy to become confused about whether it's a first name or surname. For example, I went to a school that employed one teacher with the last name of Brooks, and one with that as a first name - it got confusing very often.
