原I've always pronounce this name like cah-see-OH-pee-ah. That's how we were taught to say it in English class when learning mythology and in my astronomy class when looking at the constellation. It's a very beautiful name though, I would love to use this for a little girl someday and maybe sometimes call her Cassi.
原I received a Greek Mythology encyclopedia, and this name was listed as just Cassiope. I read on Wikipedia "Her name in Greek is Κασσιόπη, Kassiope". Not sure which I like better. Cassiopeia is really pretty and girly. Cassiope has a nice sound to it too, like popular Penelope with the nickname Cassie. I'm not sure people would pronounce Cassiopeia right, but it's beautiful and different which I love.
原This name is great, I totally love it, and would consider it for a future daughter. It's just so pretty and feminine and strong. The only downside is that it's so long and I don't like any of the nickname choices.
原I pronounce this name cassio-PAY-ah, so ne pee sound in there. I don't mind this name but it would get shortened to Cassie which I really dislike. I don't think that it would be good to give this name to one sister & Andromeda to another as the original bearers were mother & daughter, it's like calling siblings Romeo & Juliet! Just icky!?!
原Cassiopeia has to be one of the most beautiful names I've ever heard. I wish wish wish it was my name! It's so strong, beautiful and elegant, plus there are so many nickname opportunities (Cass, Cassy, Pia, etc!) There could, of course, be problems with spelling and pronunciation, but that wouldn't put me off. Any girl called Cassiopeia is INCREDIBLY lucky to have such a perfect name!
原There was a character in the 1970-80's television show "Battlestar Galactica" named Cassiopeia (portrayed by Lorette Spang-McCook). It was pronounced ka-see-O-pee-a.
