原I've always liked Love as a nickname for Lovella, but not as a full name in its own right! There are plenty of other names which mean "Love" and sound much more serious and professional. It's just not one of those words which works as a name in English.
原Can this PLEASE not be a name?! Not only due to it being mega cheesy & ultra, ultra ridiculous but every time you go on the messageboard (I prefer to put the hyperlinks on by the way) and type "Love" it shows on the hyperlinks as an actual name. It's REALLY annoying. We get it, people love their children but does that mean they literally have to use the word "Love" as their name? Anyone named "Love" is just bound to get teased and I'm just thankful that this so called name isn't on the charts.

原Love is one of the most beautiful concepts in the world. Whether it's platonic/familial/romantic, the idea that you would do absolutely anything for someone (perhaps even at the cost of yourself) is just... frankly, there are no words, so I'll stop trying to describe it.
However, as a *name*? Sorry, it does not work. Hope, Faith, Patience, etc. Have carried on from Puritan times because they can function well as names. However, can you imagine someone saying, "I Love you, Love"?
原As someone said above, we name kids Hope and Faith and they sound respectable. So why does Love, the greatest theological virtue, sound so... ridiculous?
My guess is because "Love" is used to mean so many other things. I think, to name a daughter after the virtue, I'd use Charity. That word is also misused of course, to mean simply giving money to a program - but at least it doesn't sound like something cute and flowery that a lot of people would laugh at (which is what happened, unfortunately, to the word "Love").

原I really like this name. Love has a very beautiful sound and meaning. I don't know understand why so many people are against it. People call their children Charity and Hope and Honour, so why not Love? It's far more important than all those other things. I would use Love as a middle name.
原I don't know about this one; for me, it seems to be cheapening the word "love" (further). Also, while it has a good meaning, today's society is most likely not going to take it seriously (why? I have no idea). Skip this name and go for something else that has the meaning; Esmé, Amando/Amanda, Aimé/Aimée, Aimable, Amabel, and the like.
原I think it's a good name, honestly. The greatest of the three Christian virtues. I mean, people name their kids Hope and Faith. Why not Love? I wouldn't mind naming my daughter this. Although I do think it works better as a nickname.
