原Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. In late 2010, Tesfaye anonymously uploaded several songs to YouTube under the name "The Weeknd". He released three nine-track mixtapes throughout 2011: House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, which were critically acclaimed. The following year, he released a compilation album Trilogy, thirty tracks consisting of the remastered mixtapes and three additional songs. It was released under Republic Records and his own label XO.

原I had no idea this name was this popular. There's some kid named Abel in my class, which is actually the first time I've ever heard the name (despite being a Christian, I know), and I thought it was spelled like Abol or Able or something. :P.
原I personally hesitate to use this name because of the biblical Abel, who is killed by his brother Cain (well, I would never use Cain/Kane/etc. because of this, but Abel brings up that negative fratricide association for me too). Strikes me as very cool, hipsterish, with many great namesakes, is a great name to use for others who probably don't have the same association that I have.
