原I love the sound of "Candy" as a name, and have no idea how it's supposed to sound trashy or stripperish or stupid... other than that one might assume the parents were attempting to be "cutesy" or something, but even then, it really doesn't sound overly frilly or saccharine (ironically.) The only association I have with the name is actually "hippie," due to the Candy Warren girl from "The Tale of Locker 22" from "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" One of those things that just sticks with you forever, and that's what I hear/think of when considering the name. I even prefer it to Candace, although I'd definitely use it as a nickname for that more formal name, rather than on its own.
原I love this name, and would totally name my daughter it, but since so many women with this name get rude comments about how stripperish/trashy it sounds, I think she'd resent me for it.
