原I have read that the original meaning of Nemesis comes from Greek words "ne" (meaning No or Not) and Mésos (meaning middle, center or balance) similar to Nepenthe/Nepenthes (ne- "no, not" + penthos "pain, grief), which translates to "no balance" and by the way it isn't mentioned on the list at all.
This made sense to me, as Nemesis wasn't originally personification of retribution (anyone even trying to add word "goddess" near her simply proves he doesn't know his Greek mythology at all), but simply "Bringer of what is due", especially for those guilty of Hubris.
But don't just take my word on it, use Google or preferably some respected book(s) on Greek mythology for confirmation.

原I actually really want to name my daughter this name. I think it sounds really pretty, the original goddess sounds very interesting, and, oddly enough, it's one of the only names that me and my boyfriend agree on.
原Although it has a negative connotation today, Nemesis was the bringer of fortune, which could be good or bad depending on the circumstance. She was known more for giving people what they deserved rather than just evil.
