原I think some commenters have gotten the idea that this is a cre8tive spelling of Alice. Actually, both have been historically used. This is a Welsh variant and I think it's lovely.
原This name isn't as modern or trendy as the spelling might suggest. Famous bearers include Alys of France, Countess of the Vexin (1160 – c. 1220), Canadian singer Alys Robi (1923-2011), and British TV presenter Alys Fowler (born 1978).

原I agree with a previous comment - this is the modern Welsh form of Alice, deriving from Alis. My Welsh cousin bears this name.
原This is my middle name and I love it. I think it is more creative than Alice and is really unique. Teachers have always, always spelled my name Alice. It gets to be a drag!
