原It sounds very strong and historical, though it has a bit of a hard sound to it. Maybe it's just because of Caius from Twilight, but I think it would better suit a calculating, cold-hearted person than a big old softie type of guy.
原I really like this name. It nicknames well, looks great in print and has a nice sound to it. The only thing I don't like is how it's associated with Twilight.

I used "Cai/Kai" as a nickname for my baby when I was first pregnant (I had a dream and wrote down the name McCaius). I later miscarried and found twins, but feeling like it was a boy and girl we named the boy James McKaius (K instead of C because it looked less confusing in print). (although I broke one of my rules 1). By making my own name, and 2). Using C and K for the same sound in the same name. So now I'm a hypocrite!)
Many of these Roman names have a very nice sound and can be blended into modern culture quite well, I think.
