The Elamites themselves called their country Haltamti, which was rendered to Elam in Hebrew by the Hebrews.
As such, while Elam as a personal name may originate from a purely Hebrew source etymologically, we have to take into account the possibility that Elam (as a personal name) was originally used in reference to the country... in which case it is the Hebraized form of what is ultimately an Elamite word.
