原Eleanora Fagan, professionally known as Billie Holiday, was an American jazz musician and singer-songwriter with a career spanning nearly thirty years. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend and music partner Lester Young, Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz music and pop singing. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo. She was known for her vocal delivery and improvisational skills, which made up for her limited range and lack of formal music education. There were other jazz singers with equal talent, but Holiday had a voice that captured the attention of her audience.

原I personally love this name, and so does my husband thankfully. Eleanor just felt too popular for us, and we didn't like the way people pronounce it in our area, like Helena minus the H. I really like the name Nora, and thought that Eleanora emphasizes that part of the name. I thought it sounded Victorian so I was pleased to find that it has a history of usage from that period, albeit rarely. It changes the name so much, just by adding an A on the end. The pronunciation and feel of the name Eleanora is decidedly feminine, more so than Eleanor, in my opinion. Though Eleanor is a fine classic name, we prefer Eleanora. I think that it adds to the name and doesn't subtract from it. You get all the great points about Eleanor, plus the extra elegance and distinctiveness of being one of very few Eleanora's. I hope this name doesn't become popular!

原Unsure if she was a real person, but Eleanora was Edgar Allen Poe's love in the short story "Eleanora" although she was his cousin in the story and she died in the end, the way he talks about her sounds very beautiful. Because of the story the name reminds me of a beautiful valley.
原I extremely dislike this name, it reminds me of floral sofas that my grandma used to covet... it's loads better than most tryndee new-fangled creations like Hayley and Kaylee. It also comes with the nickname Nell, which I love. Eleanor and Elinor may be a tad better.
原I really like this name, I have a younger sister named Eleanor, and my mum sometimes, when calling her, calls her Eleanora. I don't know why she does that, but I suppose it's to add a bit of eccentricity to the summons. :)
原Eleanor was my grandmother's middle name. I much prefer Eleanora to Eleanor for some reason and hope that I can use it as a middle name for a daughter someday. I think that Eleanora sounds practical yet beautiful. I also like the "nora" at the end because I very much like the musical artist Norah Jones.
