原My surname is Reed. I have a family crest that a friend got me while in England. Although it is an English name it is also connected to the Scottish and Irish. After all they are cousins. Both my names are of English origin but my first and last name are known in my family for all the origins. My family crest is Red, Yellow with Black trim. It has the entire meaning on the back of the crest she got for me. It is from the name Red and has several meanings and spellings. I like the spelling of Reed with the double EE. I feel like old royalty, I am proud to be a Reed with my family history. I am also a redhead which suits me and the name. I however, am not male but a female, so am glad it is a surname. I have a cousin that named her daughter Reed as a middle name since it is dying out in our family. The name Reed with either spelling is not common in my area so I feel special in a way.

原Reid is my maiden name and I think Reid or Reide is a nice boy or girl middle name, or even Reida as a feminine variation, to give tribute to the family surname. I like it with the "i" more than the double "e" spelling, as I think it looks more elegant. As a first name I think it doesn't roll off the tongue well enough for frequent use.
原Reed just screams "sleazy cool" to me, just like Lou Reed, American singer best known for his work in the 60s New York band "The Velvet Underground" and his solo albums such as "Transformer".
