原My name is Tomasina, I was named after my father, Thomas. He has been deceased for many decades now and afterwards my mother spoke of how she hated the name he insisted on calling his last child. He knew, in his gut he knew, he would have no boys. I proudly honor my Father's legacy. I am Tomasina, Thomas' daughter.

Thommie is a cute nickname and she doesn't get teased. I like that she has a strong name with a history, but is also feminine.
原This is the name of a girl at my school, except spelled "Tomasina". She gets called "Tommy" by her friends which I think is cool. I kind of like this name, but won't use it on my daughter.

原I think this name sounds pretty gorgeous, and my dads name is Thomas, so if I ever wanted to honor him I will call my little girl Thomasina :), though I prefer it without the H.
原We named our daughter Thomasina, born in 2012. She gets called variously Thomasina or Thom by adults, and various approximations of that by her 1 to 2 year old friends.
Our first and only experience of it was from Arcadia, which I first saw in the West End when I was just 15.
It felt a little daring, at first, and we were nervous telling family what we had named her, but it is now almost universally described as lovely when she meets new people.
It seems a perfectly natural name now, completely familiar to us. It's lost all the old-fashionedness and fussiness, and feels like a beautiful name for our little girl. Hear a name out of context and it can have all sorts of connotations, but meet a person with that name and it suddenly feels quite different.
Coincidentally, it turned out that some university friends of ours had also had a daughter that year named Thomasina. There are still only around 5 born per year in the UK, however.
原I often get heckled for this but I just adore the name Thomasina. It's underused in my opinion. I would absolutely love to see a little girl named Thomasina Elizabeth. The name speaks of elegance and refinement.

原I, too, fell in love with this name after reading Arcadia by Tom Stoppard in school. I'm not sure I could ever get away with calling a future daughter Thomasina but as a writer it's the name of one of my main characters in the story I'm currently writing. It would be shortened to Sina as a nickname.
