原Yuri Kawamura is a Japanese women's international footballer who plays as a defender. She is a member of the Japan women's national football team. She was part of the team at the 2013 Algarve Cup. On club level she played for JEF United Ichihara Chiba in Japan.

原Yuri Komuro is a Japanese actress, author and former AV idol. She was one of the top actresses in the AV field during the late 1990s and in her dominant period from 1996 to 1999 was called "The AV Queen".
原Yuri Ebihara in Miyazaki Prefecture is a Japanese model and actress. She is a graduate of Kyushu Sangyo University, where she studied fine arts. Her first big break came as a model for CanCam, with whom she had an exclusive contract. She has since appeared in several TV dramas, including Tokumei Kakarichō Tadano Hitoshi.

I mean really how does the name remotely relate to that? And also "Uranus" now truly I don't understand that one. But personally I love my name and if I could pick my name before I've been born I'd keep it Yuri. But personally I like this name because it's just weird and I like weird.
原Well, MY name is Yuri, and when I read the first comment I was really embarrassed because I never heard that before. I have no Japanese accent, but I still love my name for its uniqueness and sound. Many people comment on my name, however, a few ignorant individuals like to intentionally relate it to "urine".
原I have loved this name ever since I heard it. When I first heard it it was being used for a Japanese baby girl I fell in love with it and went online straight away and looked up the meaning which is Lily which has a very personal meaning to me.

原Other meanings for the name come up when one uses different kanji. Check comments on "Yumi" or "Yuki" for kanji for "yu" and "ri" is most commonly "village" or "science", but there are a couple others if you check the comments on "Sayuri".
In my years in Japan, I met lots of Yuris (mostly schoolgirls) and never heard it as a negative reference.
原Actually, they don't really use the term "shōujo-ai" (or "shōnen-ai") in Japan because they tend to denote pedophilia. Girls Love (gāruzu rabu) is the correct term when talking about anime/manga lesbian action.
ANYWHO, I do like this name. It's a very pretty and soft sounding name, even if it always reminds me of curry. X3
原I would like to add that, although girl on girl action may also be called "shoujo-ai," shoujo-ai is differnet from Yuri in that shoujo-ai now refers more to fluff.

Not only that, but Yuri, along with Yaoi, are terms used more often in America than in Japan -- it is the wont of people there to use "Shonen-ai" and "Shoujo-ai" instead.
