原A unisex name shortening of the word Coryphée which is an anglicised version of the Latin Coryphaeus, or Koryphaios (Greek κορυφαῖος koryphaîos, from κορυφή koryphḗ́, the top of the head, and often corypheus in English) was the leader of the chorus. In fact, it often served me well - I know of at least one job interview I got in the 1980s because the person reviewing my resume thought I was male - but once I was there, they couldn't very well turn me away. And I got the job :)
As it stands, I go by my whole given name, "Corey-Jan," which usually (but not always) gives people the hint that I'm a girl.
原My name is Corie and I am a female. I have never had a problem with people saying it was a masculine name or that "it doesn't age well". When I'm 50 that will be my name and I will be older therefore it will age with me. That's a weird thing to say that it won't age well. Also the name is "hideous"... Not really, just because it's not your name or you don't like it doesn't make it hideous. No it is not common at all especially for a girl.
Kori/korie is just a males name with a prissy spelling. Femininzing the spelling to a males name doesn't change the fact the pronunciation is still there, and unless you are deaf or hard of hearing (no offence) then you would be able to understand that this is completely a males name.
原Huh? This name is only masculine? I have a good friend whose name is Corey and she is the nicest women you could meet. Very feminine and lady-like. I have always wanted to ask her why she has a name that is so masculine, but I've always thought it rude to ask. All in all I think it's a good name, better for a boy, but either way!
