Why should anyone have to reconsider what they want to name their son just because of a tv series? If a Whovian has any respect THEY would be the ones reconsidering what they name their daughter. It clearly lists this name as male, BBC probably wasn't concerned with that at the time when they labeled the TARDIS Idris. But this name is fundamentally for men, end of story.
原Not sure whether this actually falls into the category of "useful information", but Idris was the name of a *female* character who played a small but important role in the sixth series of the new Doctor Who. Just thought that should be out there since a), there are a lot of Whovians, b), there are not a lot of Welsh mythology enthusiasts, so c), before naming your boy Idris, you may want to reconsider.
