原I find the comment above really silly. If someone named their daughter Nevaeh, would you say love God way too much? Personally, I love this name. I think it sounds really cute and pretty, and it's short, simple and memorable. Spelling Lenin backwards is just a plus for me, because I admire Lenin. He's a much better namesake than some tacky celebrity, a fascist dictator, or a perfume brand. If I ever have twin girls, I'm going to name them Ninel and Leonie. So there.

原I don't want to like this name, but I find I do. The sound of it is very pretty and appealing to me. However, I am not a fan of the words-spelt-backwards trend (really, really dislike Nevaeh, though I also dislike how that one sounds and looks) and also wouldn't use a name that was created to honour Lenin. So, it's a name I like but would never use.
原It wasn't even Vladimir Lenin, it was Vladimir Ilitch Ulyanov. Lenin means "from Lena" and Lenin took that name after a time in a prison camp at the Lena river in eastern Russia. Josef Stalin was named Josef Vissarionovich Ljugashvili (may have spelled it wrong) and he was from the republic of Georgia. Stalin means "of steel". He was a much bigger tyrant than Lenin. Although I wouldn't use it, I think Ninel sounds cute.

原Actually, no. This is not a nice name at all. Josef Lenin was a terrible man, a butcherous dictator, and Ninel is a name that was created to honor him and to reject other names. In my opinion, it sounds like "ninny", which is somewhat of an insult. And although parents who use this name may not be literally or knowingly naming their daughters after Lenin necessarily, it is still where the name comes from, and I would not want to look up my name and see it's history, were it 'Ninel'.
原I first came across this name while browsing a music site, where I discovered a Latino female singer who bears the name "Ninel". I didn't like her music much, but I did like her name. The name has a certain ring to it, and it's not very trendy. So what if it's another name spelt backwards? The name is nice, and seems pretty decent, and that's all that matters.
原I really like this name. I hadn't heard it before, but when I came across it I thought that it was really pretty. I have yet to meet someone named Ninel, but when I do I'll be sure to compliment them.
