原One of my ancestors had this name, and I first heard it doing family history research. I'd never heard it anywhere else, so I thank the other commenters who provided examples of its use elsewhere.
It's classic and super uncommon right now, which I love. I think it's great that it lends itself to so many more modern nicknames (Sophie being my favorite). It's flexible and classy.
原I've come across this version of the name in an online marriage list of 1637 for parishes in Wiltshire, UK: Henrie Fenard & Sophrany Boiter.

Also, Sophronia is the name of a genus of moth and several species of orchid.
