原As said by anonymous user in April 2014, this name is exceedingly rare among Basque people (who, of course, are white, perfectly capable of being trendy and hardly 'obscure' in all of Europe, at the very least). It's somewhat odd and plainly hypocritical to preach about nearsighted cultural views while doing so much incorrect assuming about other people(s) oneself. To be specific, the INE's records state that even in the regions most Basque people live in there is a maximum of four women named Garden in each, if any. The French equivalent (INSEE) also has no data of this name's use. Considering this, Garden is actually more common as a given name in English.

这个名字必须非常罕见。当我在Spain的INE(Instituto Nacional deEstadística)网站的名称数据部分上搜索Garden时没有任何结果,意思是在西班牙名为Garden的人不得超过20人。
原This name must be very rare. When I searched for Garden on the name data part of Spain's INE (Instituto Nacional de Estadística) website there were no results, meaning there must be less than 20 people in Spain named Garden.

原Whilst I can see your sentiment, calm down on the whole Social Justice front. At a population of 2/3 million, with about 720,000 of them speaking Basque as a main language, Basques aren't even "obscure". In fact, my partner is half Basque. And they are very, very "white" (or Caucasian). I just asked him if his mum was white because I found this funny and he reacted as if my brain had just fallen out through one ear. They're white, they're not obscure... and whilst I admit that the comments on this name are stupid (it's not like Garden is even a horrible word), your reaction is a bit over the top.
(P.S: He thinks Garden's a really ugly name, Basque or not).
原You know when you said "people on this site cannot fathom the existence of obscure non-English speaking cultures, and often can't fathom the popularity of names that have nothing to do with trendy white people," I must say that I 100% agree with you! :-)
I personally think the name Garden is an interesting, unusual, peaceful and calm name. At least it's not ugly, trashy or cheap.
原This is a perfectly acceptable name, Basque or English. I know that people on this site cannot fathom the existence of obscure non-English speaking cultures, and often can't fathom the popularity of names that have nothing to do with trendy white people, but come on. It's BASQUE. They are entitled to like the sound of this name, which means something entirely different in their language than it does in English.
原This name sounds corny and will lead to a lot of teasing. Sure, gardens can be very pretty, but it doesn't look good as a name! Gardenia might be a better choice if you like the sound of Garden.
原So no, it's no different from the English pronunciation. Basque people around the world, if you are ever interested in staying in an English-speaking country with your family for an extended amount of time. Don't name your kids this.

原I know a girl named Garden Hill. I've always thought that this was a bit of a tacky name.
原I suppose this name is acceptable in non-English-speaking countries or something, but I don't think many English-speaking people would consider this as a name for their child, myself included.
