原I have to comment on my fellow board messengers regarding the name JaQuan. I may have felt like many of you that this name was apprehensive and distasteful many years ago. However, I was undeniably wrong! We must not just tolerate our differences but we must appreciate them. I applaud the mothers be they young or seasoned that named their bundle of joy JaQuan. It was created in the African American community with pride and dignity. Besides, how many Tyrone's and Petroski's can we have? I'm considering this name for my unborn child and despite what you may think, I'm going to say it with pride! Think differently people... How many times has someone tried to trash something you created?

原Even worse than DaQuan. The name sounds very trashy and like the name choice of high school dropouts who have had kids way too young. A guy with this ghetto name will have serious credibility issues.
原To the aboveu user, are you suggesting all black people use such names, and are all poor and uneducated? You should grow up and stop stereotyping. Daquan is not a highly used name, and even though I am not black I find such comments offensive. If a girl is blonde does it make her stupid? If a man is homosexual does that make him an alien? Does a Muslim baby mean terrorist? Of course not! And if you must know, all the black people I know have biblical names excepting a girl I once knew called Juliet and one black Irish girl named Bethany. I'm not saying this name is wonderful, but such comments are not constructive. If your family has a reason for using this (eg. all your siblings initials make up this name) then go ahead, but in my opinion this isn't the best name.
原Don't these parents have any compassion for their children or any respect for names? This name is atrocious!
I associate names like these with poor black people, no offence; it looks and sounds uneducated. I don't care if it is "unique"; this crosses the line to bizarre. Your poor son will get strange looks in job interviews, at school, in many situations.
